Conversion of Conventional Sheetfed and Web Offset press, by retrofitting with UV Curing system is gaining popularity nowadays. This type of UV curing system retrofitted onto offset press like Heidelberg, Komori, Mitsubishi, Dominant etc. is also known as UV Interdeck system. Instead of going for a totally new Offset Press, which requires a large capital investment, installing such UV Interdeck system enables the customer to do UV printing on a conventional Offset Press. Further the investment in this case is hardly 5% – 10%, as compared to going for a new Machine.  We AT DRODI, with our capable and dedicated Technical team, specialize in installing such UV systems. The main components of a UV Interdeck system are as follows :

1. UV Cassette or UV Enclosure : UV Cassette is the most important component of a UV interdeck system and can be considered as the heart. The smooth operation, efficiency and desired print quality depend a lot on a good UV Cassette. It consists of an Aluminum Enclosure, Shutters, Reflectors, UV lamp and the Pneumatics. We at DRODI use a unique UV Cassette which has a high quality Extruded Aluminum Enclosure, Shutters and Highly polished UV Reflectors. Both the enclosure and Shutters are Water cooled and also there is a high Vacuum Suction system, which takes out all the hot air surrounding the UV Lamps. Specially designed Shutters and High efficiency reflectors focus the UV rays on the substrate for maximum curing results. The shutters are pneumatically operated to open when substrate is present and Close in the absence of it. We use UV Lamps only from world renowned manufacturers like Alphacure of UK and Western Quartz of USA, resulting in best curing and longer Lamp life.

2. UV Ballast : UV Ballast is used to trigger the UV Lamp and maintain a stable and desired Voltage / Current. We manufacture UV Ballast that can switch UV intensity between 50%, 75% and 100%, as desired. The UV Lamp remains at 50% intensity with shutter closed when there is no substrate. It switches to 75% or 100% with shutter open, when substrate is moving under the UV Cassette. This ensures savings of valuable power and UV Lamp life. Conventional UV Ballast consists of a High Voltage Transformer and a Capacitance Bank. Although expensive, nowadays EPS or Electronic Power Supply is also gaining popularity, as it results in saving of up to 40% power. We at DRODI are capable of supplying UV Interdeck system fitted with any of the above type UV Ballast, as per the customer’s choice.

3. UV Control Panel : The main control Panel consists of all Electricals including the Ballast, Control Relays, Contactors, Switchgear and PLC for all functions. DRODI supplies state of art UV Control Panel with its UV system, and has PLC control for all operations, functions and safety controls. The control Panel has a Human Machine Interface ( HMI ) or Touch Screen to easily monitor and control all parameters like UV Intensity, UV Voltage / Current, Shutters operation etc. The Water Chiller and the Suction Blowers controls are also provided on the Touch Screen. The UV Cassette and the Cool Water temperature are also displayed on the Touch Screen. As a safety feature the whole system takes a shut down in case any of the temperatures rise beyond the acceptable range. Our Control Panels are fixed with only high quality Electrical Switchgear with suitable ratings only. Proper ventilation is provided with high rpm fans. The Control Panel enclosure is fabricated using CNC Machine from Amada, Japan.

4. Peripherals : The peripherals consist of Water cooling Chiller and Suction Blowers. We install Water Cooling Chillers from renowned companies only, resulting in proper cooling of water even in the harshest conditions. Suction Blowers used have high rpm and heavy duty motors resulting in proper suction of Hot air from the UV Cassette and maintain an ambient temperature inside. High quality Glass coated electrical cables are used for all high voltage UV wiring eliminating any chances of overheating and sparking. All pneumatic piping is from FESTO / SMC. All water piping’s are strongly clamped to avoid any water leakage.
